From The Bulletin Board

A young Mike Valentine. One of my favorite photos I've ever shot. Back in the cross processing days before it was just a Photoshop filter.

Short film I edited this week.

MACHOTAILDROP

Pretty sure this has been making the rounds around the net, but this is rad enough to post multiple times. Oddly awesome and weird. Rick McCranks character looks too good.

"In this fantastical adventure comedy, skateboarding is not a trivial pastime of the young, but rather a noble pursuit worthy of the highest cultural recognition. In this strangely beautiful world, professional skateboarders live like knights in baroque castles, the half pipe their jousting arena and the concrete of the streets the forum for their Machiavellian tricks. Walter Rhums dream comes true when the 17-year-old skateboarder is selected to ride professionally for Machotaildrop, the worlds most prestigious skateboard company."

"Whisked away from his mundane life, Walter is transported to the lavish estate of Machotaildrop's headquarters, lorded over by the quirky and delusional Baron. As the Baron grooms young Walter (with the right air, and the right outfit) to dethrone then current top rider Blair Stanley and to replace him as the new face of Machotaildrop, Walters fantasy life dissolves into a dizzying nightmare, as he uncovers the nasty underbelly of the Barons skateboard manufacturing operation. Tompkins Square Doc.

A few months ago I did the music for a film that Bill Pierce was working on and we just got it back the other day. The film was for a festival where the object was to shoot one roll of film and send it to them undeveloped with a soundtrack/voiceover to go with it, and hopefully everything lines up correctly, or decent enough that its coherent. So I worked on the song and Bill did the voiceover while pieces of drywall were falling on us from a leak in my ceiling. We crossed our fingers, and everything turned out ok. Check it out below.

Nam June Paik

Nam was one of the pioneers of video art whose influence seems to be pretty obvious in plenty of experimental noise music and video art of today. Below is a video on his TV Cello from a special on PBS (which is pretty funny, I think the cello actually turns off halfway through), some other examples of his stuff, and a recent video from Black Dice.
