Mini Preview: "I Seen You."

Here's a mini preview of our new zine, "I Seen You." It's based on the Subway Sketches I've been doing, but I've expanded it to drawing people wherever. Check out some examples below:

Update: Line en Route, Gold Mold/Smolder split

Been working on a new accordion style zine. Tentative title is "Line en Route". This is pretty close to being done and will probably be in an edition of 50.

Also, expect a Gold Mold/Smolder split cassette sometime in the near future. Get excited, radical things on the horizon.

Project Update

Here's a little taste of what we've been working on over the past few weeks. Some things are closer to completion than others, but we're still happy with the progress thus far.

Started painting, cutting and folding possible covers for the Smolder EP. Still working out some details with this one, but we think that this will generally be what it'll look like.

If we go this route it'll probably a limited run of 30 or so. Unless we figure out a way to print it without sacrificing the texture of the water color paper that isn't too costly. This is still in the process of being recorded, but I'll throw up some mp3 previews before it comes out.

Black and white preview of the Sleep Light zine, complete with belly band. Wish there was a different name for that, makes me think of pregnant women or something. This will hopefully out and printed by the end of the month.

Working out the kinks with the "Win Some, Lose Most" poster. These are just rough drafts. Certain things with this one might change from what's pictured here, but nonetheless, this is where we're at so far--figuring out folds and printing options. Really looking forward to the final product if all goes as planned.

NY Art Book Fair

Looking for something to do this weekend? Well if you're in NYC, you should definitely be checking out the NY Art Book Fair hosted by Printed Matter. If you're a zine and book nerd like us then it's definitely worth checking out. The fair runs from Friday Oct. 2nd- Sunday Oct. 4th with a preview/benefit on Thursday night. Here's some info about the benefit:

"Following the preview, Deitch Studios, Long Island City, will generously host a benefit for Printed Matter, featuring industrial punk-and-dub duo, I.U.D. (Lizzi Bougatsos of Gang Gang Dance and Sadie Laska of Growing). DJs Tim Lokiec and Gary Murphy play vintage house. Tickets begin at $20 and include limited artist editions by Elmgreen & Dragset, Jutta Koether, Tom Sachs, and Mungo Thomson."

Should be fun. Plus, a side project of Gang Gang Dance and Growing is worth the price of admission alone.

Iram the Wonderer

So we're finally making some headway on our friend Eric's zine. It's been talked about a lot and now we're excited to finally start tossing some ideas around in terms of packaging and design. Here's the description from Eric's email:

"The zine will be "Iram the Wonderer" follows a creature from his virgin birth of a traveling gypsy, his travels with his mother (incognito on his mothers back as a bonzai tree), eating his mother (wearing her heart as a necklace for guidance for the remainder of the zine), psychadelic encounter- visions of god (a 3 headed owl crucified on a cactus), lonesome drunken campfire (the smoke will read, "welcome the stars with wine and guitars") each 2 page will have text intertwined with the illustrations... I have yet to think of anything for his death, but it will be something of mind rape magnitude.

A few updates:
-The midnight poncho release will now be a concept album.

-Bill is filming out west for Our Mother The Mountain. A video me, eric and bill are working on. We're filming it with mostly super8 and 16mm and there will be sweet animations from eric. Haven't discussed packaging but its sure to be epic.

-We had a really good turnout at the photo show, and the shirts came out great. I'll post up pics from that night soon.

-Some live Smolder demos. These may or may not be on the release. They're more ambient and experimental based than anything else I've been doing. Thinking of continuing in this direction.

A little update: The photo show/shirt release party at Division East will be on Friday, May 15th. A portion of the proceeds will be going towards the DE warehouse fund, so come out, buy a shirt, a photograph, and drink some brews. Photos will be priced to sell so everyone can go home with something. I'll post the flyer soon.

There have been talks of doing a release with Midnight Poncho. No info on that really, other than that they rule and it will look awesome. Really good stuff.

Been tossing around a lot of cool ideas for the Win Some/Lose Most zine. Awesome things will come of it.
